Nov 262012

One familiar sound of the holidays is the ringing of the Salvation Army Bell. Could your church, family or organization help those in need by providing bell ringers for a day?
The Salvation Army Holbrook Service Extension Unit provides emergency assistance to Holbrook residents. So far in 2012, more than $3,590 has helped 65 families and individuals with such things as birth certificates and identification to seek employment, vehicle repairs, rent and prescription co-pays. In addition, more than $1,400 in SHARE funds has helped 11 Holbrook families with utility bills. Funds for this assistance are collected through the annual Holiday Bell Ringing Campaign, and the unit’s current funds are depleted.
Volunteers are needed from Nov. 23 through Dec. 24. All funds collected in Holbrook stay in Holbrook. To help as a group or as an individual, call Shannon Newman at (928) 241-8678 to sign up for a few hours of spreading holiday cheer and collecting funds for those in need. Donations may also be made at Bank of the West.
