This year’s Snowflake Lobo wrestling team includes seniors JT Bradley, Jacob Lucas, Zane Owens, Angel Pino, Clayton Solomon, Lane Whipple and Zach Winder. Juniors on the team are Lehi Caldwell, Isaih Diaz, Alex Foree, Hunter Frost and Mike Lancaster. They are joined by sophomores Brenton Ballard, Eldon McCray, Michael Spurlock, Bowen Sweeney and Garrison Touchstone. Freshmen rounding out the team are Kodie Bateman, Kadyn Davis, Tyler Kelley, Cole Mortensen, Justin Webber and Wacey Wood. Jeff Mortensen is the head coach.
Snowflake went 4-0 at the Nov. 28 Holbrook multiple with wins over Holbrook, 45-30, Joseph City, 54-21, Globe, 42-33, and Piñon, 54-30.
Last weekend they placed fifth at the Peaks Tournament held in Flagstaff. Prescott finished first, Yuma was second, Coconino, third, and Flagstaff, fourth. Other schools competing were Catalina Foothills, North-land Prep, Page, Bradshaw Mountain, Glendale, Coolidge and Piñon.
In dual scores the Lobos picked up wins over Page, 42-36, Catalina Foothills, 67-6, Northland Prep, 70-10, and Glendale, 60-21. They lost to Prescott, 47-25, and Flagstaff, 42-34.
Nine Lobo wrestlers placed at the meet including Cole Mortensen (106), first; Wacey Wood (113), fourth; Zane Owens (138), first; Clayton Solomon (145), second; Lane Whipple (152), fourth; Jacob Lucas (160), second; Alex Foree (170), second; Mike Lancaster (220), fourth; and JT Bradley (285), third.
The Lobos will compete in the Winslow Multiple today (Dec. 5), then host their own multiple meet on Friday, Dec. 7.
