The Snowflake Town Council approved a one- bonus for town employees last week in an effort to recognize them and their dedication.
Town Manager Paul Watson explained that this year’s budget provides for a bonus to each employee since the town is currently within the budget in both revenues and expenditures, and the amount was set aside in the budget. The bonuses will not impact the operating budget in future years.
“The last adjustment to salaries of any kind was in 2008, and for the most part, employees are taking home less, because we had to adjust employee benefits,” said Watson, noting he was recommending a flat amount for full-time employees, half of that for part-time employees, and a much smaller amount for volunteers and others.
“We’ve already pre-approved this for salaries,” said Vice Mayor Jason Whiting, as he moved to approve the bonus pay as outlined in the budget. The motion passed unanimously.
