The Roadrunners picked up their first home court win of the season Tuesday night in Holbrook, holding off a pesky Mogollon team for a 66-58 win.
Holbrook picked up a pair of three-point bombs from Dontae Hollins and got eight points in the paint from Nathan Turley to help take a 16-13 lead into the second quarter. Six different players accounted for a 17-point second frame, giving Holbrook a 33-24 halftime margin.
Both teams scored well in the third, but the Roadrunners still increased their margin to 12 points heading to the final quarter. Andon Hatch buried nine of Holbrook’s 20 in the third quarter. In the final stanza Mogollon continued to battle hard, trimming Holbrook’s lead to as little as four late in the game, but in the final minutes the Roadrunners hit enough free throws to secure the eight-point win.
Turley started well and ended the night as the leading scorer for Holbrook with 12. Hollins and Kyle Chee each hit for 11. Hatch added 9, Sheldon Silversmith, 8, Miireux Begay, 6, and Triston Zahne, 4. Holbrook made six shots from distance and went eight for 11 at the line.
Macky Slade of Mogollon led all players in the game with 27 points. Jaden Willis added 12, Lane Bentley, 7, and Randall Schindler and Jimmy Adams, 6 each. The Mustangs made one three-point shot and went 15 for 23 at the line.
With the win Holbrook evens its season mark at 3-3.
