Three former Holbrook High School wrestlers reunited with their wrestling coach, Lance Phaturos, now principal of the school, at the Pat Kenny Wrestling Invitational on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 as wrestling coaches.
Corey Whitten, a 1995 HHS graduate and state wrestling champion, is now the head wrestling coach at Mountain Ridge High School and math teacher in the Deer Valley School District.
Dave Whitten, a 1997 graduate and state wrestling fourth place winner, is assistant wrestling coach at Basha High School and social studies teacher in the Chandler School District.
Jeff Koury, a 1998 graduate and state wrestling fourth place winner, is assistant wrestling coach at Mes-quite High School and social studies teacher in the Gilbert School District.
“The true measure of our value as parents and as a school district is what our kids turn out to be after graduating from high school; therefore, it was quite an honor and very inspiring to see Corey, Dave and Jeff in the Holbrook gymnasium giving back to the sport and our youth as coaches and teachers,” said Phaturos.
