With just two losses on the season, both to highly ranked Division III schools, the Lady Wildcats have certainly proven they belong in conversations mentioning the top teams in the area regardless of division. Jo-seph City now sits at 6-2 with a loss to Page in a tournament and a hard fought loss to a very good Valley Sanders team Tuesday night.
The Lady Cats added their fifth and sixth wins of the season last week with impressive victories over Williams on Dec. 4 and at St. Michael on Dec. 7.
Hosting Williams, the Lady Cats jumped out quickly, taking a 22-2 first period lead, and never looked back. Their defense held the Lady Vikings to only 10 total points in the 76-10 win.
Kristin Baldwin led 11 Lady Wildcat players in scoring with 16 points. Searra Hansen added 15, Madison Fields, 10, Savanna Baer, 8, Taylor Hill, 7, Lindi Gardner, 6, Taylor Elmer, 4, Brooke Baldwin and Kayla Hughes, 3 each, and Sierra Johnstun and Krista Edwards, 2 each.
Playing at what is traditionally a tough place to win, the Lady Wildcats cruised past St. Michael, winning 63-37. A double-digit first period lead was whittled down to just a 32-24 halftime margin. The Lady Wild-cats held St. Michael to just two points in the third to build a commanding lead they never relinquished.
Kristin Baldwin led with 16 points. Fields and Hansen added 10 each, Johnstun, 8, Hill, 6, Brooke Baldwin, 5, and Gardner, 2.
On Tuesday, Dec. 18, Joseph City will host St. Michael, then on Friday, Dec. 21, they face Holbrook in the opening round of the Winslow Winter Classic in a 12:30 p.m. matchup.
