The Lady Lobos of Snowflake went 2-4 over the weekend at the Round Valley Tournament, with several of their games played with younger players.
Snowflake faced Show Low in the first of two Thursday games and came away with a 36-31 win over the Lady Cougars. Shelbi Rawlins led the way with 12 points. Brylee Coplan and Jessica Neff added 8 each.
Thursday’s late game pitted them against Ft. Thomas, and they came up just short, losing 49-41 to the Lady Apaches. Matti Scott finished with 11, Caitlin Christensen added 9, and Neff and Coplan scored 7 each.
In the first round of bracket play on Friday, the Lady Lobos were handed a 42-27 defeat by Blue Ridge. Missing several varsity players, Snowflake was led by Christensen with 10, while Marisa Godfrey and Scott added 5 each.
In a game Friday evening that did not count in the turney, Snowflake fell to host team and tournament runner-up Round Valley, 49-25. Coplan netted 7 and Scott finished with 6.
In the consolation bracket on Saturday morning, what was essentially the Lady Lobos’ junior varsity team earned a 41-38 win over St. Johns. Godfrey led with 14 points. Coplan added 10 and Kendra Solomon finished with 7.
In their final game of the tournament, Snowflake fell to a good Safford club, 49-26. Godfrey led the team with 10 points.
Snowflake headed into Tuesday’s home matchup with Payson with an overall mark of 4-5. On Monday, Dec. 17, the Lady Lobos will travel to Holbrook to face the Lady Roadrunners, who are unbeaten going into this week’s action.
