Forty-six shooters participated in the 2012 Holbrook Elks Lodge Hoop Shoot held Dec. 15. It is estimated that approximately 400 shooters participated throughout the school-wide practice rounds and competition this year.
The Elks Hoop Shoot is a local, state and national competition for free throw accuracy. Each participant is allowed 25 free throws. The shooter with the most free throws made out of 25 shots in his or her age division advances to the next level of competition, the regional contest scheduled in January in Camp Verde.
The Elks Hoops Shoot Committee offered thanks to those who helped make the annual event a success, including the Holbrook Unified School District, Hulet Elementary School, Doug Hansen, Daniel Orton, Chris Symancyk, Jody Good, Judge John Lamb, Paul Ortega, Patty Hansen, Debbie Koerperich, Jeff Jones Sr., Dale Bray, Phil Cobb, Celestine Romo, Robert Romo and all of the members of Elks Lodge No. 2450.
The Holbrook Elks Lodge and the community of Holbrook wish the winners the best of luck in their next level of competition in January.
