Holbrook lost to Winslow by just nine points in the 3A North Tournament of Champions over the holiday, but Saturday night’s regular season matchup in Winslow turned into a 30-point win for the Bulldogs.
The Roadrunners stayed close through the first eight minutes, trailing by just three after one, but a two-point second period, left them trailing 24-13 at the half. Marlin Martin scored five of Holbrook’s nine points in the third, but Winslow came out of the locker room on fire and exploded for 28 points to expand the lead to 52-22 with just the fourth remaining. A running clock for the entirety of the fourth quarter quickly put Hol-brook out of its misery in the 62-32 loss.
Andon Hatch led Holbrook with 10 points. Martin added 7, Kyle Chee, 5, Bryan Tisi, 4, Robert Nelson, 2 and Triston Zahne, 1. Holbrook made four three-point shots, two by Hatch, and went four for seven at the line.
Winslow was led by Michael Goldtooth with 14. Steven Nelson added 10, Timmy Little, 9, Demetrius Gamez, Frank Kelly Jr, Lukas Shirley and Jesi Bitsoi, 6 each, and Millard Thomas, 5. The Bulldogs went four for five at the line and hit six from behind the arc.

Holbrook fell to 8-13 with the loss and the Bulldogs improved to 12-6 with the win.
After playing at Joseph City on Tuesday, the Roadrunners will host Window Rock on Thursday, Jan. 10, and Valley Sanders on Friday, Jan. 11. The next Friday they travel to Valley Sanders for a rematch with the Pirates.
