The Lady Wildcats added three more wins to their total making their record 11-4 on the season with victories over Holbrook, Cibecue and Mogollon last week.
Tuesday’s home court win over Holbrook was their only competitive game, as they had to rally from behind in the second half to overtake the Lady Roadrunners.
Trailing by seven at the break, Searra Johnson and Kristin Baldwin took advantage of their height in the third, pulling down offensive rebounds right and left and helping the Lady Cats pour in 27 third period points, most on second chance put backs. Playing with a four-point lead Joseph City held off Holbrook down the stretch to defeat the neighboring squad for the second time this season by a final of 61-55.
Searra Hansen led with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Kristin Baldwin added 14 with 21 boards. Taylor Hill also reached double figures in scoring with 16.
Over the weekend the Wildcats had a much easier time of it, defeating Cibecue on the road 71-32. A big first quarter and an even better third period with 30 points propelled the Lady Cats to the lopsided victory.
Hansen finished with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Kristin Baldwin added 18 with 13 boards. Hill scored 13. Madison Fields pulled down 12 rebounds and netted 7 points. Kayla Hughes scored 3, while Sierra Johnstun, Taylor Elmer, and Brooke Baldwin added 2 each.
On Saturday things were even easier for the Lady Cats in Heber where they faced a struggling Mogollon team and won 77-18.
Hansen again led the way with 21 points. Kristin Baldwin added 14, and Fields had 12 with 10 boards. Sierra Johnstun scored 10 with 12 rebounds. Brooke Baldwin and Hill each netted 5, Lindi Gardner and Hughes, 4 each, and Elmer, 2.
Three home games this week looks like three more potential wins for the fifth ranked Lady Wildcats in Division IV. After hosting Seligman on Tuesday, Joseph City hosts Snowflake on Friday, Jan. 18, and Mogollon on Saturday, Jan. 19. On Tuesday, Jan. 22, the Lady Wildcats travel to St. Johns.
