The Lady Wildcats picked two more relatively easy wins over the weekend, pushing their overall mark to 14-4 with home court victories over Mogollon and Snowflake.
Facing the Lady Lobos on Friday, Joseph City doubled up the visitors in the first period, grabbing a 10-point lead. A strong second period pushed that margin to 22 points at the half. The Lady Cats cruised in the second half, eventually winning the game 66-47.
Taylor Hill had a big night, scoring 24 points with seven steals. Searra Hansen finished with 18 and 10 boards. Madison Fields added 10 points with 11 rebounds. Kayla Hughes had 7 points, Kristin Baldwin, 5, and Brooke Baldwin, 2.
Overall Joseph City’s pressure resulted in 23 team steals.
On Saturday night the Lady Wildcats put 50 points on the board through the first eight minutes. They cooled off after that, but went on to win the game 79-20.
Mogollon, which has really struggled all season, scored in single digits each period.
Hansen finished with 23 points and nine boards. Fields added 14 with six rebounds. Kristin Baldwin had 10 and 10. Hill added 7, as did Taylor Elmer. Brooke Baldwin had 6, Sierra Johnstun, 4, Lindi Gardner, 4, Hughes, 2, and Katelyn Pugh, 2.
The Wildcats headed into this week’s action ranked in the top five in the Division IV power points. After playing at St. Johns on Tuesday, they will host Cibecue tonight (Jan. 23), then make a short trip to Holbrook on Saturday, Jan. 26. On Tuesday, Jan. 29, they play at Snowflake.
