It was J.R.’s first ride since 1984. Rusty served as the posse’s first lieutenant for this year’s ride. The DeSpains have a long history with the posse. J.R.’s uncle, Grant Brinkerhoff, and his second cousin, Ray DeSpain, were charter members of the organization, which was established as a search and rescue unit.
