The Winslow Lady Bulldogs defeated the Tuba City Lady Warriors 48-38 in Chinle on Saturday for the Division III Sectional Championship. The win improved Winslow’s record to an outstanding 23-5 for the season. The Lady Bulldogs will play next in the Arizona State Division III Championship Tournament.
Winslow started strong, but trailed going into the final period. The Lady Bulldogs led 14-7 after the first quarter and 24-18 at the half, but trailed 33-31 at the end of the third quarter. They outscored Tuba City 17-5 in the final period to claim the victory and the championship.
Shandiin Armao led all scorers with 26 points for the Lady Bulldogs, followed by Marcella Joe with 10. Shinaya Henry led Tuba City with 9 points.

The Lady Bulldogs earned their spot in the title game by defeating the top ranked Valley Sanders Lady Pirates 59-44 the day before.
They started strong and led 23-14 after the first period of play and 32-26 at the half. The margin was 43-36 after three quarters.
Armao led all scorers with 24 points for Winslow, followed by Mattea Begaii with 19 and Halle Hayes with 13. Andrea Nez led Valley Sanders with 19 points, followed by Kristen Quigley with 11 and Chelena Betoney with 9.
