Miranda Lou Gene, 55, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, in Winslow. A prayer service will be held for her at 1 o’clock this afternoon (Feb. 22) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Winslow.
She was born on July 10, 1957, in Keams Canyon. She was of the Edge Water Clan, born for the Bitter Water Clan. Her Nali is Red Streak Running Into Water Clan and her Chei is from the Manygoats Clan.
Miranda graduated from Tuba City High School.
Her hobbies were making jewelry and different crafts.
She was a very loving person, friendly, very smart and had a sense of humor. She had a lot of friends and always had good things to say about people. She knew how to make people feel special.
Survivors include her companion, Edward Ashley, with whom she shared a lot of love and friendship for the past 30 years; seven siblings, Raymond Gene Jr., Darlene Gene, Ronald Gene, Francis Gene, Barbara Gene, Carmelita Gene and Geraldine Gene; 28 nephews and nieces, Shannon Gene, Bonito Gene, Nadina Gene, Kellihan Tsedah, Keshia Tsedah, Kimitri Tsedah, LaToya Gene, Rayneldi Gene, Dazabah Gene, Nalene Gene, Raylene Gene, Shawnon Benton, Chelsea Benton, Nicolita Gene, Shania Bedonie, Brienna Bedonie, Kayla Bedonie, Shawn Gene, Jeremy Gene, Roland Gene, Conan Gene, Shane Foster, Fawn Gene, Eric Gene, Namath Gene, Alexia Gene, Fernando Gene and Eugene Nelson; and 18 grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Gene Sr.; her mother, Nadine Davis Gene; a sister, Lois Gene; three brothers, Larry Gene, Marco Gene and Virgil Gene; and two nephews, Adriane Hayden and Aron Dale.
Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow was in charge of the arrangements.
