The Lobos saw their state title dreams fade away late in Friday night’s semi-final round, losing to Valley Christian 61-55.
The Trojans held off a strong run by Snowflake late in the game before finally closing out the Lobos’ season.
Snowflake got big performances from Reggie Peterson, who finished with 20 points and 12 boards, and Chase Walden, who scored 19 with three steals.
The Lobos erased a large deficit late in the third and early in the fourth by going on an 18-3 run, finally taking a 50-47 lead with 5:10 left in the game. But down the stretch Valley Christian hit a couple of deep three-point shots, then sealed the win by making free throws in the final minute to advance to the title game.
The Trojans fell to Gilbert Christian in the championship game Saturday night, 60-48.
The Lobos closed out a very good season with an overall mark of 26-8.
