Veteran Coach Art Griffith describes the Winslow Bulldogs of 2013 as young and enthusiastic, but needing to develop pitching to go with a strong defense. The team, which went an impressive 22-5 in 2012, lost its top four hitters and three starting pitchers, but has seven returning lettermen and will have six freshmen filling out the varsity roster.
Pitcher/first baseman Sam Setalla is the only senior on the Bulldog team. He was four for six in the season opening Fountain Hills Invitational Tournament, pitched in one game and did not get a decision.
Juniors returning include shortstop/pitcher Colton Corum, second baseman/pitcher Matt Cirre, left fielder Jeff Gonzales, pitcher/infielder Jon Bollin, catcher Adrian Montoya and centerfielder Vincenzio Sells.
Freshmen on the varsity include pitcher/outfielder Matthew Ramos, infielder Rey Chavez-Velez, pitcher/outfielder Kuster Kinlicheenie, outfielder C.J. Chacon, catcher/infielder Caleb Cirre and outfielder Akkeem Foster.
