Coach Eric Miller has four seniors on this year’s roster as the Joseph City Wildcats head into their first full week of baseball action, playing at Snowflake on today (March 6), at St. Johns on Thursday and hosting Holbrook on Friday.
Colton Spurlock, Mitchel Wouters, Robert Larsen and Zane Blackington head up the 12-man roster for the Wildcats. Juniors on the team are Cody Davis, Robert Downs, TJ Hendricks, Tyler Nichols, Tyson South and Wyatt Johnson. Freshmen Hayden Hendricks and Jack Wilbanks round out the team.
The Wildcats opened the season Feb. 27 with a 13-2 home field loss to St. Johns. Both teams started slowly, but the Redskins took a three-run lead into the fourth. Joseph City scored twice in the home half of the inning, trimming the lead to one, but that would be all the runs the Cats could muster. St. Johns opened the game up with six runs in the fifth and held the Cats scoreless for the remainder of the game to earn the win.
