James William Pooser, 67, was called home to his Lord and Savior on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, passing away suddenly in Flagstaff. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, at the First Southern Baptist Church, located at 360 First Ave. in Holbrook.
He was born on March 26, 1946, in Glendale, Calif., to Clyde Bunker Pooser Jr. and Barbara Catherine Parr.
Jim loved bowling. People who became acquainted with him liked his childlike attitude. He liked to laugh, joke around and have a good time; in fact, the biggest thing that people noticed about him was his laugh. Jim loved going to church, reading the Bible and developing a close relationship with his Savior.
On Oct. 6, 1973, he married the love of his life, Cheryl Rae Sonntag. Even though life took him another direction, he continued to appreciate her friendship and the special person she was. Jim was also blessed to have a son, Doug, with whom he kept in regular contact even though distance separated them most of their lives. When Doug lived in Flagstaff for a time, they would take time to enjoy golfing and spending time together as father and son. Together on another occasion, they admired the spectacular wonder of Canyon de Chelly National Monument.
Survivors include his son, Douglas Sonntag; his sister, Kathryn Pooser; brother, Clyde Pooser, his wife Alice and their two children, Jim Chang and Chin Chin; and his former mother-in-law, Mona Jean Sonntag.
Owens Livingston Mortuary of Holbrook was in charge of the arrangements.Pooser, Jim
