Thirteen wrestlers from Holbrook competed in the Rocky Mountain Nationals held March 9 in Prescott, and five of them placed.
Those competing included eighth graders Kohl Potts, Justin Richards and Shane McGraw, freshmen James Ramirez and Jedde Bowman, sophomores Theron Johns, Joseph Herrera and James Sumpter, juniors Clayton Hunt, Shem Bowman and Angel Aguilera, senior Caleb McClellan, and Open Division wrestler RJ Alvarado.
There were more than 1,000 wrestlers competing in the event. Everyone wrestled hard and had very tough competition. In some weight classes, there were up to 32 wrestlers.
Angel Aguilera took sixth place, Theron Johns was fourth, James Ramirez and RJ Alvarado both placed third, and Shem Bowman was a national champion, taking first place. Nationals Wrestling1
