The Lobos dropped a pair of close games and steamrolled Joseph City in games played last week.
Last Tuesday Snowflake battled tough, but fell 6-4 to visiting Payson. The Longhorns broke a 3-3 tie with two in the fourth, tacked on an insurance run in the seventh, then held the Lobos to just one run through the final four innings.
Snowflake collected five hits, but made two errors and left five runners on base.
Josh Kelley went one for two with a RBI and scored once. Freddy Pinkley was one for four. Caedon Ervien was one for three and scored twice. Nate Kelley went one for one with an RBI and scored once. JJ Jones went one for four with an RBI.
On the hill, Tyler Hanson worked four innings, giving up three runs, only two earned, on four hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Dallin Fusselman pitched three innings, giving up three runs, all earned, on five hits with two walks.
On Thursday the Lobos took just five innings to shut out Joseph City, 10-0. Snowflake pounded out 15 hits and got a strong performance on the hill from Hayden Bauer, who allowed just two hits in 42/3 innings of work with four strikeouts and one walk.
Josh Kelley went two for three with a double, scored three runs and had one RBI. Pinkley was one for two. Ervien went two for three and scored a run. Bauer went one for three, as did Jarom Beecroft, who had a double and scored a run. Nate Kelley went three for three with two RBIs. Braccin Tanner was two for three with a home run, three RBIs and scored twice. Fusselman went one for one with a double, an RBI and scored once. Hosting Blue Ridge on Friday, the Lobos led 5-4 through three innings, but gave up the lead for good when the Yellowjackets scored twice in the fourth. Snowflake trimmed the lead to one, but that was as close as the Lobos would get despite outhitting Blue Ridge six hits to five. Both teams made four errors, but again the Lobos left five on base.
Pinkley went one for three with an RBI and scored a run. Ervien was one for four with an RBI and also scored once. Nate Kelley went one for three. Tanner was one for four and scored a run. Jones was one for four with an RBI.
On the hill, Beecroft worked 32/3 innings, giving up two runs, both earned, on one hit with two walks and five strikeouts. Tanner pitched 31/3 innings, giving up five runs, just one earned, on one hit with four walks and four strikeouts.
Snowflake headed into this week’s games with an overall mark of 5-4. After playing at Payson on Tuesday, the Lobos will host Holbrook on Thursday, March 21, then play Blue Ridge on Friday, March 22, at Lakeside before having a week off for spring break. They will return to action on Monday, April 1, hosting Round Valley.
