Catching up with the Lady Lobos finds them sitting with an overall mark of 12-8 as they return to softball action following spring break at Snowflake High School. The Lobos finished up play prior to the break by posting a 4-3 record in seven games played at the Gracie Haught tournament held March 22 and 23 in Payson.
Snowflake opened the tournament with three games on Friday, with all three decided by a single run.
The Lobos fell to Apache Junction 3-2, with Tori Flake taking the loss in the circle. Tycee Coplan went one for three at the plate and Flake helped her own cause by going one for two.
Sunnyslope defeated the Lobos 2-1 in a pitcher’s dual. Brylee Coplan pitched well, but still took the loss. Melissa Eich scored Snowflake’s lone run.
The Lobos wrapped up the day with a 4-3 win over Willow Canyon. This time Flake was the winning pitcher. At the plate Tycee Coplan and Ashlyn Butler each went one for three with a double, two RBIs and scored a run. Sidney Palmer was one for two and scored once.
Saturday started better for the Lobos as they picked up a 7-4 win over Camp Verde. Flake again was credited with the win. Marisa Godfrey had a nice game at the plate, going three for three with two RBIs and scoring once. Flake went two for four, scoring once. Tycee Coplan was two for four with a double and scored twice. Butler went one for three with a double and scored once. Debbie Tai Neff was one for four, scoring once.
Snowflake won the next game in a big way, defeating Fountain Hills 12-1 with Brylee Coplan earning the win. Palmer hit a home run and scored twice. Tycee Coplan went three for four with three RBIs and scored four runs.
The Lobos backed that win up with a 10-7 victory over Blue Ridge. Flake got the win in the circle, getting help at the plate from Butler who went two for four with a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored. Kimber Solomon was two for three with a double, an RBI and scored one run.
After picking up three wins to start the day, the Lobos dropped their final game of the tournament, falling to Tanque Verde by a single run, 9-8. Flake took the loss in the circle. At the plate Godfrey went one for four with a double, an RBI and scored a run. Tycee Coplan was two for three, scoring twice. Butler went one for two with a triple and an RBI. Tai Neff went two for three.
After hosting Coconino on Tuesday, the Lobos will play at Show Low today (April 3), then host Round Valley on Thursday, April 4. On Tuesday, April 9, they play Blue Ridge at Lakeside.
