Mozelle Devereaux, 93, a former resident of Snowflake, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, in California. Memorial services were held March 30 at Diboll United Methodist Church in Diboll, Texas, with Reverend Becky Love officiating.
Mrs. Devereaux was born Oct. 3, 1919, in Ringgold, La., the daughter of the late C.B. Bullock Sr. and Celia Ola Bullock. She was united in marriage on Feb. 12, 1939, to Jack Devereaux. They were married for 73 years.
Mozelle had an unwavering love of God and country. She was a longtime member of Diboll United Methodist Church, and was very involved with the church and local community organizations, including the Garden Club and Pilot Club of Diboll. Every week she had great fun getting together with the domino ladies, enjoying friendship and laughter.
Her compassion embraced all God’s creatures, always seeing the best in everyone. Supporting family members was her main focus in life; enjoying the pleasures of their success brought her great happiness. She had a passion for education and knowledge, and fulfilled her dream by working with the Arizona Public Schools, retiring in 1984.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Jacquelin and Larry Renfro of Amarillo, Texas, Paula and Mel Kurth of Santa Fe, N.M., and Celia “Ceci” and Doc White of San Diego, Calif.; two grandsons, Lance Devereaux and Chad Walker; one granddaughter, JJ Devereaux; five great-grandchildren, Nikki, Alyssa, Joshua, Jessie and Hannah; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mozelle was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Devereaux on Aug. 24, 2012; two brothers, C.B. Bullock Jr. and Doyle Bullock; and a sister, Floree Smith.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Diboll United Methodist Church, 401 S. Hines St., Diboll, Texas 75941; or to the History Center of Diboll, 102 N. Temple Drive, Diboll, Texas 75941.
