Stephan Gregory Hargis, 54, was living in Conway, Ark., when he passed away to be with his Lord on Monday, March 11, 2013. Services will be held on Saturday, April 20, at Our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church in Snowflake, with the rosary at 10 a.m. and services at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at St. Mary of the Angels Columbarium.
He was born in Chicago, Ill., on Dec. 10, 1958.
Stephan graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a degree in business management, and had only recently returned to Conway because of his fondness for the area. However, his heart had remained in Snowflake, where he had lived 14 years, and had many friends and family there who loved him dearly for his kind and gentle heart.
He worked at the Snowflake School District with special needs children while in Snowflake, and in Conway, he worked with special needs adults. He was always very active in the Catholic Church.
Survivors include his mother, Geraldine Kelley Hargis; his siblings, Joseph (Maria) Hargis, Michael (Nena) Hargis, Claire St. George (Randy Henning), Catherine Rubright, Christina (Robert) Hesselton, Patrick Hargis, Carina (Dennis) Milligan, Anthony (Gwen) Hargis, Theodore (Pilar) Hargis, David (Sandy) Hargis, James (Victoria) Hargis, Consilia (Bruce) Lee and Robert Hargis; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by close friends Jock and Bonnie Heal and their son Tony, who loved Stephan deeply.
He will be remembered always by all his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ira Clair Hargis; and his brother, Nicholas Gerry Hargis.
