The Lobos earned a one-run win, suffered a one-run loss, and picked up an easy win over Alchesay in three games played last week.
Wednesday’s game at St. Johns went down to the wire before the Redskins eked out a 7-6 win. Trailing 4-3 through six innings, the Lobos appeared to have gained the upper hand with three runs in the top of the seventh only to see the home team answer with three runs of its own in the bottom of the seventh to win the game.
Snowflake connected on just four hits and made three errors. The Redskins finished with seven hits, but made five errors.
Josh Kelley went one for four with a double and an RBI. Nate Kelley was also one for four with a double and scored twice. Hayden Bauer went one for one with an RBI. Dallin Fusselman was one for three. Freddy Pinkley went zero for two, but reached on an error, had an RBI and scored once. Nik Tate went zero for three, but walked once, reached once on an error and scored twice. Caedon Ervien was zero for four, but walked and scored once.
The Lobos used three pitchers, with Braccin Tanner getting the start. He worked three innings, facing 18 batters. He allowed three runs, all earned, on two hits with seven walks and five strikeouts. JJ Jones also worked three innings, facing 18 batters. He gave up one earned run on five hits with three strikeouts. Fusselman pitched just one inning, facing three batters and throwing three strikeouts.
On Thursday the Lobos had to go to extra innings before coming out on top of visiting Winslow 2-1 in a pitcher’s dual.
Jarom Beecroft worked all eight innings for the Lobos, facing 31 Bulldog batters. He gave up just one run, earned on only five hits with six strikeouts and a walk.
Snowflake pounded out nine hits in the win led by Tate, who went three for four with an RBI. Josh Kelley was two for four. Pinkley went one for four and scored a run. Hayden Bauer was one for three. Hunter Bauer went one for three with a double. Tanner also scored a run.
On Friday the Lobos had a much more comfortable win over the Whiteriver Falcons in Alchesay, defeating them 8-1. Stats were unavailable for this game as of press time.
By going 2-1 during the week the Lobos improved their power point record to 7-5. Just four games remain on the regular season schedule, with two in each of the next couple of weeks. After hosting Show Low on Tuesday, the Lobos will host Alchesay on Friday, April 19. Next week they play at Holbrook on Tuesday, then finish the regular season at Show Low the following day.
