Clifton Ferron McGee Sr., 92, of Mesa, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013, following a brief illness. Funeral services were held April 23 in Mesa.
He was born Dec. 23, 1920, in Kirtland, N.M.
Cliff married the love of his life, Betty Noel, on June 3, 1940, and lived 14 years on the Hopi and Navajo reservations, operating trading posts in Keams Canyon, Polacca and Piñon. After a time the family lived in Holbrook, where the children attended school. Cliff and Betty moved to Mesa in 1981, where they lived until his passing.
He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities, including 23 years of service in the Mesa Temple.
Cliff enjoyed flying, both in his airplane and in his cars. His light fluffy pancakes, creamy homemade tapioca pudding, hand pulled taffy and delicious seasoned meals prepared from scratch will be missed. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, welcoming all into his home with his sweet smile.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 72 years; four children, Ferron Dorothy of Gold Canyon, Bruce (Marlene) of Mesa, Beverlee (John) Kay of Snowflake and Ron (Nanette) of Holbrook; 18 grandchildren; and 52 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elwood and Celia McGee; and eight of his nine siblings.
Bunker’s University Chapel of Mesa was in charge of the arrangements.Obit-Mcgree
