Winslow City Manager Jim Ferguson announced his resignation April 17, citing family health as his reason for the decision.
Ferguson has served as the city’s manager for eight years, intending to remain in the position until at least January 2014. In January of this year, Ferguson retired from the city and became an employee of Smartworksplus, which allowed him to continue working in his position through a contractual agreement with the city.
“It is time to move on to other opportunities, and continue with my love for local government and economic development in a different arena,” stated Ferguson. His last day of employment will be July 13, which is when his contract agreement with the city expires.
The matter was brought before the city council on Tuesday night, with the expectation that the city will soon advertise for applicants for the position.
