Although they are low seeds, the Holbrook baseball and softball teams have qualified for the post-season.
The baseball team entered the first round on Tuesday evening as the 22nd seed, where they were scheduled to face No. 11 Morenci at the Surprise Sports Complex. If the Roadrunners pulled the upset, they will face No. 6 Mingus at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 3. A win there would put them into quarterfinal action at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.
The softball team drew a good opponent despite being the 21st overall seed. Holbrook will face No. 12 Chinle at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, at the Rose Mofford Softball Complex in Phoenix. The Lady Roadrunners defeated the Wildcats 19-10 earlier this month and with a good performance, could easily move into the second round on Friday, where they would match up with a very good fifth seeded Estrella Foothills squad. If the Lady Birds could manage what would be a huge upset, they would play again at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday in the quarterfinal round.
Losses by either team from this point forward will bring an end to the season.
