The Holbrook and Winslow Denny’s restaurants have joined the fight against pediatric cancer by partnering with Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, an organization dedicated to raising funds for research to develop new, improved treatments for pediatric cancer, the top disease killer of children in the U.S.
Throughout the month of May, participating Denny’s restaurants will try to raise $80,000 through the sale of paper “cookies,” which serve as a symbol of support for the non-profit organization. Diners can purchase a paper cookie for a donation of their choice, and customers may add their name, the name of a loved one or a personalized message on each paper cookie before it takes a place of pride on the walls of participating diners.
Cookies for Kids’ Cancer was founded in 2008 by the mother of a young boy named Liam who was diagnosed with cancer as a toddler. Sadly, Liam lost his battle with the disease in 2011 at the age of 6. The organization generates most of its funds each year through bake sales held across the country.
