Joseph City finished 11th in a field of 29 teams in the girls’ Division IV State Track Meet and 12th among 35 teams in the boys’ state meet held over the weekend at Mesa Community College.
The Wildcats were paced by three top three individual finishers, including Chance Rush, who placed second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.63. Jacob Fields finished second in the triple jump, traveling a distance of 43-06, and third in the long jump with a distance of 21-10.
Josh Burt placed 16th in the 400 meter run with a time of 53.82.
Chance Rush placed 13th in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 44.13.
Daniel Hutchens was 18th in the long jump with a distance of 18-11 and 14th in the triple jump with 38-02.
Lance Farnes finished 20th in the triple jump with a distance of 36-11.
Neal Conner finished 22nd in the shot put with a toss of 35-08.
The boys 4×800 meter relay team placed 13th with a time of 9:02.
Kristin Baldwin led the Lady Wildcats with a third place finish in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:00.
The girls’ 4×400 meter relay team placed third with a time of 4:15.
Lindi Gardner was seventh in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:03.
Brook Baldwin placed sixth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.11, and 13th in the 300 meter hurdles with 52.28.
Britney Smith tied for sixth in the high jump, clearing 4-08.
Madisen Fields placed seventh in the shot put with a toss of 31-07 and was 13th in the discus with a throw of 83-10.
Kaitlyn Pugh placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 92-04 and was 14th in the shot put with a toss of 29-03.
Kayla Hughes placed 20th in the triple jump, traveling a distance of 28-04.
