Holbrook residents who participated in the federal Works Progress Administration program in the 1930s, or who may have had a relative enrolled in President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal, are invited to share their information with the Navajo County Historical Society.
NCHS has printed reports and information in its archives concerning public projects that were completed in Holbrook and the surrounding area. In addition, photographs of existing construction projects that were completed during this era will be included in a new museum exhibit.
Photographs and documents from the 1930s may be duplicated by museum staff to add to the exhibit, with the owners retaining their original material. Stories that may have been handed down through the generations of a family member’s contributions and experience in the program would also be welcomed.
This is an opportunity to share part of your family’s legacy from a significant era of history.
It is the NCHS’s mission to preserve the area’s history and culture through its large collection of information and artifacts.
For more information, please call Jolynn Fox, interim director of the museum, at 524-6558 or 524-6886, or Julie Weissner, project coordinator, at 524-6203.
