Jacob Fields, a 2013 Joseph City High School graduate, has been selected as the 1A-3A Arizona Interscholastic Association’s Male Scholar-Athlete Recipient.
This prestigious award is given to students, per the AIA bylaws, “whose academic accomplishments are a positive model for others, who possess high levels of integrity and veracity, and who, in the objective determination of the selection committee, have benefited from their participation in high school interscholastic athletic programs.”
To qualify students must have had an overall grade point average of 3.750 on a 4.000 scale, participated in a varsity sport for at least two years, and have a record of good citizenship.
Jacob is an outstanding student-athlete. He has an incredible work ethic, is a phenomenal leader and a talented competitor. He also exhibits strong moral values on a daily basis. He has held positions of leadership all four years of high school, including his senior year as Student Body vice president, president of the National Honor Society, captain of the football and basketball teams, and leadership positions in his church.
Off the court or on Jacob has an impressive list of accomplishments. He was the salutatorian of his graduating class, an Eagle Scout, a member of three state championship football teams, selected as the MVP for the football and basketball teams, as well as an All-State selection in football and basketball.
In July, Jacob will leave to serve a two-year mission for the LDS church in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Upon his return he plans to enroll in one of the United States Military Academies to train to be a fighter pilot.
