Marie Nalwood, 83, of Teesto passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013, in Flagstaff. Graveside services were held June 11 at Desert View Cemetery in Winslow.
She was born on Oct. 15, 1929, in Fingerpoint, Ariz. She was born to Naakaii Dine ‘e (Mexican) for Ná toh Diné e Tachii ñii (Tobacco People Red Running into Water clan).
Marie wove rugs to support her family. She loved to do arts and crafts.
Survivors include her son, Amos Nelson; her stepson, Danny Nalwood; two daughters, Emerline James and Lucinda “Cindy” Shepard; five sisters, Eleanor Miles, Ida Mae Clinton, Emma Lou Loucks, Bernita Attakai and Pauline Nelson; three brothers, Gene Nelson, Ned Nelson and Jimmy Wilson; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Nalwood; her son, Peter Nelson; her parents, Emma and Joe Nelson; her brother, Harry Nelson; her granddaughter, Natasha Begay; and her stepgrandson, Jay Nalwood.
Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow was in charge of the arrangements.
