The Taylor Town Council held a special meeting June 10 to award a contract for the detention basin excavation project, which is being built for flood control on the northwest side of town.
Council members expressed concern with the span of bids, but Town Engineer Stu Spaulding said that he checked Apache Underground’s credentials and found them to be all right. The firm was awarded a contract not to exceed $104,446.77 for the project. Councilmen Gary Solomon and Lynn DeWitt declared conflicts of interest.
Other bids were received from Sol’s Construction, contact person Gary Solomon, $156,260; McCauley Construction, Inc., $223,200; Hatch Construction, contact person Lynn Hatch, $232,647; Surface Contracting, contact person Mike Laron, $282,500; and Rawlings Construction, contact person Lynn DeWitt, $414,000.
