Our father and grandfather, Juan A. Palacios, 92, was called home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 17 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Winslow, with Father Jeffrey King officiating. Interment followed at Desert View Cemetery in Winslow.
Juan was born on June 16, 1920, in Puebla, Mexico, to Francisco and Rosa Palacios. He came to Arizona in 1943 to work on the ATSF. He met and married Emily Hernandez, and was married for 67 years. He worked for the railroad for 38 years. He and his wife also owned and ran Emily’s Bakery, one of the last bakeries in Winslow.
Survivors include his children, John (Teresa) Palacios, Lupe (Arthur) Molina, Dolores Palacios, Margaret Palacios and Danette Palacios; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and his cousins, Salvador, Martha, Esperanza Palacios, Ivonne, Maribel, and Ivette Palacios, all of Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Palacios; his parents, Francisco and Rosa Palacios; his uncle and aunt, Francisco and Sophia Palacios; and his beloved grandmother, Guadalupe Palacios.
Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow was in charge of the arrangements.
