Our beloved grandmother Aurelia “Lela” Vigil, 97, went to be with the Lord our Savior surrounded with family by her side on Tuesday, July 23, 2013. Holy Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. today (July 26) at Madre De Dios Catholic Church in Winslow, with celebration of Mass of Christian Burial following at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Desert View Cemetery in Winslow.
She was born Jan. 5, 1916, to Tomas Cordova and Grace Roberts in San Rafael, N.M.
Aurelia married Christobal Vigil and had five loving children, Johnny, Poncho, Martin, Viola and Maria.
Survivors include one son, Martin (Polly) Vigil of Flagstaff; her granddaughter and caregiver, Aurora Sanchez of Winslow; 21 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Johnny and Poncho Vigil; two daughters, Viola Sanchez and Maria Romero; her husband Cristobal Vigil; and many other family members.
Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow was in charge of the arrangements.
