One man has been arrested and another hospitalized following an incident that occurred at the American Legion post in Holbrook on Sunday, Aug. 11.
According to Police Chief Mark Jackson, at approximately 1:23 a.m. a police officer was patrolling the parking lot of the American Legion in the 200 block of East Iowa Street as people began to leave a party that had been held there. As the officer drove around to the north side of the building, he observed two men fighting. He approached the men and saw that one was bleeding from a wound in the neck area.
Another officer arrived at the scene and Armando Aguilar, 23, of Show Low was detained. The victim, Jesus Silva, 34, also of Show Low, was transported to Little Colorado Medical Center in Winslow for treatment of a stab wound.
Aguilar was booked into the Navajo County Jail, and has been charged with threatening and intimidating, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and attempted second degree murder.
The incident remains under investigation.
