The annual Taylor Sweet Corn Festival will be held on Saturday, Aug. 31, with most events taking place at the rodeo grounds.
The celebration opens at 6:30 a.m. with the Sweet Triathlon, which starts at the Snowflake Swimming Pool. For more information, contact Drew Griffin at (928) 243-5502.
Breakfast will be served from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the Taylor Fly-In by members of the town council at the Taylor Airport. Pilots will be on hand to give youth an introduction to aviation with a ride in their airplanes. The event will conclude in time to enjoy the parade and other activities. Everyone is invited to attend.
The Sweet Corn Festival Parade starts at 9 a.m. at the Taylor City Ball Field, continues west, then right on 200 South, then right on Cattle Lane.
The Arts and Crafts Fair will be held in the grassy area from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Laser tag, Ride the Orb and bounce houses will also be available.
The Horseless Rodeo for kids up to 12 years old opens at 10 a.m. at the rodeo arena.
Food will be served beginning at 10 a.m., including Taylor sweet corn, Dave’s famous barbecue, Hawaiian barbecue, Navajo tacos, hamburgers, hot dogs and more food.
Bost Family Traditions will perform Bluegrass music at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. under the pavilion.
A magic show is planned at 12:30 p.m. under the pavilion.
Mountain Saddle Band will perform in concert at 6 p.m. Admission is $3 per person, with kids 5 and under admitted free.
The Taylor-Shumway Heritage Foundation will host a Hayride Jamboree at 5 p.m. at the Hancock Log Cabin.
