The Arizona Department of Transportation was slated begin a project Tuesday to repave seven miles of Interstate 40 from Holbrook to the Sun Valley Interchange (milepost 290-297).
This $10 million project will include milling existing pavement and then repaving. In addition, there will be bridge deck repairs at the Sun Valley Interchange, installing new fencing and guardrail replacement as part of the project.
Work hours will be 3 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. During this time there may be lane closures of up to three miles on segments of I-40 both east and westbound. The Sun Valley Bridge will also need to be closed for approximately three days during the project while crews work on the deck.
The project will temporarily suspend in mid-December for the winter months, and start up again in spring 2014.
Drivers are advised to adhere to the reduced speed limit, proceed through the work zone with caution, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
