Holbrook cruised to a three-game win in dominating fashion over visiting Hopi Tuesday night pushing its regular volleyball season mark to 6-2. The Lady Roadrunners took the first game 25-17, won the second 25-13, then quickly ended the match with a 25-13 victory in game three.
Every player suited up for the Birds contributed in the win. Shandie Demuth finished with three kills, 22 assists, served six aces and had seven digs. Tess Baldonado had 17 kills, served two aces and had eight digs. Mariah Cummings had two assists and an ace. Teyah Goldtooth finished with seven kills, had three aces and led the team with 14 digs. Shayna Carlson added two kills and an assist. Demi Phaturos helped with 10 digs. Alex Jeffers-Sample added three kills, two aces and three digs. Brandi Cline served two aces and had three digs. Dena Kinlicheenie finished with one kill, set up seven assists, served one ace and had two digs. Terrilyn Lester helped with two kills.
After playing at Valley Sanders on Thursday, the Birds will face two very tough opponents in their next two outings. On Tuesday, Oct. 8, they host Snowflake, followed up by a home court match up with Monument Valley on Saturday, Oct. 12. Both the Lobos and the Mustangs have quality clubs, and are expected to make deep post-season runs.
