Competing at the Desert Twilight Cross Country Festival held at Toka Sticks Golf Course, the Roadrunners found themselves at one of the largest meets in the state. Ten different race categories drew a total of 174 teams from Arizona and neighboring states.
The Holbrook boys’ team competed in the Championship race along with 27 other teams, with the Roadrunners finishing 14th.
In the field of 184 elite runners Mark Clark paced Holbrook, finishing in 64th place. Triston Zahne was close behind in 65th position. Ryan Keyonnie finished 70th; Kyle Chee, 71st; Marcos Clark, 82nd; Roy Begay, 145th; and Ryan Bia, 146th.
The Holbrook junior varsity team competed in the boys’ open division race with 238 competitors. Jarvis Nez led the way for the junior Roadrunners, finishing in 108th position. Derrick Joe was 114th; Jayden Johns, 170th; Jayson Puente, 210th; and Tristan Notah, 237th.
The Lady Roadrunners ran in the small school varsity race along with 28 teams, finishing in 20th place. With 231 runners in the event Miya Tom represented Holbrook well, finishing in 23rd position. Johannah Tsosie was 124th; LaShaundra Tsosie, 129th; Glenda Tsosie, 157th; Morgan Zahne, 160th; Jayne Sandoval, 200th; and Raenna Bahe, 211th.
In the small girls’ open division race, Latanya Lano placed 70th and Daena Bahe was 110th in a field of 156 runners.
