The Lady Lobos continued with their impressive volleyball season, picking up wins over both Holbrook and Moon Valley last week. Thursday’s match at Moon Valley was a 3-0 win for Snowflake, as was Tuesday’s road match at Holbrook.
In the Holbrook contest both teams played well for the first game, with Snowflake eventually edging the Lady Birds 26-24. The second and third games were also close, at least through the early going, with both teams playing well through 10 points. However, behind strong efforts from Tandis Yellowhair and Emma Tenney, who combined for 36 of the team’s 40 kills, Snowflake won game two 25-15 and ended the match by winning the third game 25-17.
Yellowhair finished with 19 kills, one ace and had four digs. Emma Tenney added 17 kills, five aces, two blocks, and two digs. Aubry Flake finished with three kills, one block and one assist. Britlee Merrell added one kill and three blocks.
Rachelle King was the leading setter with 22 assists and Maryssa Tenney helped with 10.
This week the Lobos continue their roll toward the state playoffs. After a home match with Fountain Hills on Tuesday, Snowflake will play a road match against Blue Ridge on Thursday, Oct. 17, in Lakeside and a home match with Payson the following day.
