Then John and his family moved to Holbrook, where he lived for 41 years. While in Holbrook, John earned his master’s degree in English from Northern Arizona University.
He taught English at Holbrook High School, Holbrook Junior High School and Northland Pioneer College in Holbrook for over 27 years.
He believed in giving back to the community and helping others. John was actively involved with the Boy Scouts, the Elks, the Masonic Lodge, the American Legion, the Bread of Life Mission, the Republican Party and the Holbrook United Methodist Church. In 1976, John was named Holbrook’s Man of the Year.
In 2004, John and his wife moved from Holbrook to the Glencroft Retirement Community in Glendale, where he was an active member and volunteer.
John was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, and an avid sports fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Phoenix Suns, the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Arizona Cardinals and Arizona State University.
