Kenneth Woods, 51, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, in Winslow. A celebration of his life was held Oct. 21, 2013 on the patio at P.T.’s in Winslow. He will be laid to rest at a family plot in Philadelphia, Pa.
He was born in Philadelphia on Sept. 1, 1962.
Kenneth graduated from Germantown High School and attended Penn State University.
Following his dream, he became a combat engineer in the U.S. Army. He wanted to be like his uncle who held the same position. Kenneth served in the Persian Gulf War.
Kenneth married his wife Alma on her birthday, Feb. 13, 1989.
After his service he moved to El Paso, Texas, in 1992, where he lived until he moved to Winslow in the summer of 1999. He was a correction officer for the Arizona Department of Corrections.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Cecilia Woods; two sons, Alex Oviedo and Marcous Anthony Woods; three daughters, Angelica Reffner (David), Dominique Natasha Woods and Britnay Jasmine Woods; three grandkids, D.J. Reffner, Adrian Reffner and Maalik Woods; four sisters, Mary Woods, Rosalie Woods, Lorrie Hemmings and Jeanette Woods; and two brothers, Ernest Woods and Andrew Woods.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Dessie Woods; a sister, Laura Charles; and a brother, James Woods.
