Catching up with the Lady Wildcats as their regular volleyball season draws to a close finds them in position to qualify for the state tournament after a slow start under first year coach Sheri Brennan.
The Joseph City squad went just 2-4 in its first six power point matches, but has since turned it around, winning eight of the past 10 matches and moving up to the 15th position in power point rankings with just one match left.
Last week the Wildcats fell to St. Johns on Tuesday, 3-1, but came back strong with a 3-1 win over Ray on Wednesday, followed by a 3-0 win over Round Valley on Friday. The win over Ray also secured second place in Section V, which places them in the final field of 16 for the state tournament as the top two teams from each section automatically qualify regardless of ranking.
The Wildcats would like to close out the regular season a win over a stout Holbrook squad tonight (Oct. 30) to improve their overall seeding for the tournament, which begins on Friday, Nov. 8, at Tim’s Toyota Center in Prescott Valley.
