Both Snowflake soccer teams have qualified for the post-season, with the Lobos heading to the state tournament as the fourth seed and the Lady Lobos squeaking in as the eighth and final seed.
The boys secured the first round bye as the fourth seed with wins over Northland Prep on Tuesday, 3-0, and St. Johns on Wednesday, 4-0. Snowflake finished the regular season with an 8-4 record, and as the fourth seed will host either No. 12 Phoenix Country Day or No. 5 Willcox in the second round of the Division IV state tournament at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2. If the Lobos advance, they will play in the semifinal round on Friday, Nov. 8, at Campo Verde High School in Gilbert.
The Lady Lobos finished the regular season with a 5-0 shutout win over Holbrook last Thursday. Scoring goals in the win were Jessica Neff, Amanda Lara, Reagan Thornley, Audrey Livingston and Macie Rawlins.
Snowflake posted a 6-6 record in power point matches this year. As the eighth seed the Lady Lobos will have to travel to Tucson to face top ranked Desert Christian at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31. In their earlier meeting at a Tucson tournament, Snowflake played well in a 2-1 loss. If they play well again, they have a chance to pull the upset. With a win they would face either Northland Prep or River Valley at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Campo Verde High School in Gilbert.
