Peace Lutheran Church and Elks Lodge No. 2450 will be joining forces to offer all comers a special holiday event–and all for the benefit of the community.
“We hope not only to raise money to benefit each organization and, through them, various charities like the Bread of Life Mission, but we’re also looking to have a good time working together and helping folks get in the Christmas spirit,” said Jeff Johnson, pastor of Peace.
Added Elks trustee Cindy Allen, “It’ll be a lot of fun, just like last year. We should be able to help a lot of people.”
This second annual bazaar will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 7 and 8, and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Elks Lodge, just off Hermosa at 714 Elkdom Avenue by Interstate 40.
Santa’s Storage Shed is the name given to Holbrook’s largest rummage sale, featuring good quality items ranging from DVDs to furniture.
The Elves’ Workshop will be the craft area. Busy fingers have been preparing all kinds of handcrafted items, many perfect for Christmas gifts.
Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen will be selling delicious holiday and non-holiday baked items. while the Christmas Cafe will serve hot breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as homemade cookies and muffins throughout each day.
A unique aspect to this bazaar is a Kidz Korner, a place where parents can drop their little ones while they shop. Under supervision, the children will create a craft item suitable as a gift they can give.
“We’re hoping the whole community will turn out to support this good cause,” Johnson said.
In addition to shopping the dates of the event, contributions of good quality rummage sale items, as well as handcrafted items and baked/kitchen goods, are also welcome. Call Peace Lutheran Church at 524-2718 or email to make arrangements for either delivery or pick-up.
All unsold items will be discounted by 50 percent beginning at 12 noon on Saturday.
