Hazel Adonna Wolfington, 85, left this life peacefully on Friday, Oct. 24, 2013, in Tempe. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Chapel of Bueler Chandler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Drive in Chandler.
She was born on Jan. 4, 1928 in Douglas. Her mother, Eunice Lee Wells, married William Trukke when Hazel was 2 years old. He adopted Hazel and her older brother, Hayes. The family moved to Flagstaff, where Hazel attended high school.
Hazel married Boyd Wolfington after the war. They built a home in Holbrook, where they spent all of their adult lives heavily involved in the community.

She proudly worked for the Navajo County Sheriff’s office for 32 years as a deputy and then lieutenant. She cherished those years; loving her work and coworkers.
After retiring at age 66, Hazel enjoyed beautifying her yard and playing bridge with her girlfriends. She loved golf, Solitaire, all of the many dogs she owned over the years and watching sports.
Ever the picture of class and elegance, Hazel was respected and loved by all who knew her.

She will be missed by her children, Greg (Cathy) Wolfington of Albuquerque, N.M., and Gwen (David) Tilson of Mesa; her six grandchildren; and her 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, her older brother and her grandson Trevor.
