Snowflake’s 16-1 regular season record has earned them the number one seed in the state volleyball tournament, which gets underway on Friday in Prescott. The Lobos wrapped up a solid regular season with 13 consecutive wins in power point competition. If all goes well they hope to have a chance to avenge their only loss of the season, which came against second seeded Safford. If that match up happens it will be in the championship match on Saturday evening at Tim’s Toyota Center.
Before the Lobos can get to that point they will need to take care of 16th seeded Catalina Magnet School in the opening round on Friday at 2 p.m. The Trojans come in with a regular season mark of 10-7, and finished 25th in the power point rankings, but earned their way into the playoffs via placing first or second in their section. An expected win in round one would advance Snowflake to the second round where they will face either No. 8 Saguaro or No. 9 Thunderbird. A trip to the finals won’t be easy with Monument Valley, Blue Ridge and Holbrook on their side of the bracket.
Snowflake won their final regular season match of the year, easily getting past Show Low in three straight games.
