Mary Sandra ‘Sandy’ Martin Cresswell, 57, peacefully passed away in her sleep, surrounded by her family in Woods Cross, Utah, on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013. She endured over three years in a battle with cancer. Funeral services were held Nov. 20 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary.
She was born Nov. 14, 1956, in St. George, Utah, to Mary S. Martin/Gailey and her biological father, Gary E. Martin. She had four brothers, Steven Martin, Carl A. Martin, Billy Martin and Danny Martin, and a sister, Cindy Roundtree. Her stepfather is Hugh Gailey.
Sandy graduated from Snowflake Union High School with honors. She attended Brigham Young University, where she earned an Associate’s Degree. She became a Realtor and a paralegal. She worked at many law firms in downtown Salt Lake City.
She married Daniel C. Cresswell and they had four children, Nathan, Ashlee, Corey and Casey Cresswell.
Her greatest gift of all is the sweet spirit of her granddaughter Jade Skye Cresswell.
Sandy lived for skiing and skied every ski resort in the state of Utah in one year between treatments.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She had lived in St. George, Monticello, Cedar City and Moab, Utah, New Mexico, Snowflake, Ariz., Elko and Mesquite, Nev., and later moved to Woods Cross with her children.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Martin.
Sandy was a great asset to her friends and family, all of whom loved her unconditionally, and she will be greatly missed.
