Holbrook High School will sponsor a Financial Aid and Scholarship Information Night for junior and senior students and their parents at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, in the school library. Two special guests will be speaking at this year’s event, Melissa Webb from Grand Canyon University and Don “Brad” Call from Northland Pioneer College.
Webb is an admissions representative and serves Northeastern Arizona, including Apache and Navajo counties. She has presented information about financial aid and scholarship resources for many years. She enjoys encouraging students to strive for a university education, but also understands there are different postsecondary education and career pathways for students (such as community colleges, trade/vocational schools or the military).
Call is a veteran admissions representative from NPC who does a wonderful job communicating key aspects pertaining to postsecondary education and career pursuits.
Topics at this year’s event will include information about scholarship searches on the Internet, resume writing, scholarship essays, and Pell grants. HHS Senior Counselor Cindy Percy will host this workshop.
Percy will also be hosting FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) facilitation events from 6 to 8 p.m. every Wednesday in January, beginning Jan. 8. Parents are encouraged to bring their W-2s and income documentation. HHS will have a computer lab available for parents to complete the FAFSA. This form is the foundation for all Pell Grant applications, as well as a required document for most universities, community colleges and trade/vocational schools offering financial aid assistance to students.
If you would like further information, please contact Percy at HHS at 524-2815, ext. 7021.
